The Conference
The purpose of the Conference is to ensure that all the main interest groups in Devon have a voice in the partnership and can exert an influence on issues important to them, although for purely practical reasons not all can sit at the main partnership table. This influencing would be carried out in conjunction with the Networks mentioned below, and the operation of the thematic partnerships and their sub-groups which collectively will have a very wide membership from across Devon.
Role
- To reflect the breadth and depth of communities across Devon
- To connect strategic interests and local interests
- To hold the Devon Strategic Partnership to account for delivery of the Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) and Local Area Agreement (LAA)
- To inform (but not decide) priorities of the SCS and as a part of that the LAA, and other partnership plans within the scope of the whole partnership system
- To act as a channel of communication from and for constituent communities of place or interest, i.e. to be the representative body of and for Devon
Operation
- Meet every six months starting in Autumn 2006, with a move to annual meetings no earlier than 2008
- To be organised as a facilitated discussion involving all parties with a Devon interest and contribution
- In the early meetings (i.e. autumn 2006 /spring 2007) to explicitly consider the evidence for the priorities of the Sustainable Community Strategy
Membership
The conference includes members of the whole Devon Strategic Partnership family.
